Metroplex Sprint

Well I did the Metroplex Sprint last week as a tune up before BSLT. It went really well. I accomplished what I set out to do. There were a ton a fast dudes there. It probably had something to do with Cap Tex being rained out.

Briefly, because I don't want to bore you. Swam hard. Some guy and I have never seen before took off right from the start. He definately took me out of my swimming comfort zone. This is exactly what I was looking for. Someone to push and I would just try to hang on for dear life. This is one of my weaknesses, so I was happy with the result. I stayed right on his feet for almost the entire swim until he hit the last bouy. I think he was tried of dragging me around the course, because he just dropped me. I think it was a combination of him being a better swimmer than me, but also that I lost concentration for a split second and he was gone. I have learned over the years that swimming takes alot more focus than we give it. Expecially in the open water. It takes alot of focus and concentration to stay on someones feet. Anyway, I will keep working on this and hopefully get it down enough to be able to hang with the lead pack for the entire swim.

Bike: Just wanted to ride hard and test out my ergomo. Here is the data below for anyone who cares. I have been doing a lot of reading and studying this stuff lately. I soon hope to get it all down so it has a practical application.

Run: I just didn't have good legs. My form was horrible. Amy even said that I looked more comfortable running in Kona last year than I did in this race. It could have been a lot of things. Anyway, I knew I didn't have it when I got off the bike. Just kept going and finished up a pretty successful training race.

I have been doing a lot of testing this past week. I did a run HR/lactate test on Thurs. I did a HR/Power/Lactate test yesterday on the bike. Today I am going for a V02 test. Not to really find out my V02 max, but to find out at what heart rate I am burning fat as fuel the most efficiently. Knowing that will help me stay dialed into the correct HR and Power. Bascially it will allow me to be efficient as possible. Things should be as dialed in as they are going to get for BSLT. Thats it for now.
